Der Mercedes-Benz 300 SL ergänzt als klassischer Sportwagen die Tamiya Sportwagen-Serie im Maßstab 1:24. Das Originalfahrzeug wurde ursprünglich als Prototyp für das hauseigene Rennteam produziert, um damit an nationalen Rennen und Meisterschaften teilzunehmen. Im Jahre 1954 debütierte ein Serienfahrzeug auf der Internationalen Automobil-Ausstellung in New York. Trotz seines „Straßenauto-Status" war der 300 SL ein rassiges und elegantes Fahrzeug, das in den Vereinigten Staaten sehr populär war und großen Anklang fand. Der Volvo A60G ist ein Bau-Großfahrzeug, welches in Steinbrüchen u.ä. eingesetzt wird. TAMIYA hat dieses Modell nun auf einem 6-Rad G6-01 Chassis nachgebaut anhand von Original Volvo Fahrzeugdaten. Es basiert auf dem GF-01 Chassis und wurde um eine Achse verlängert. Im Bausatz wird das Modell mit einer lenkbaren Vorderachse ausgeliefert. Es kann optional auch mit einer lenkbaren Hinterachse versehen werden. Hierfür wird ein zusätzliches Servo benötigt. Der 540er Elektromotor sitzt hinter der Vorderachse, was dem Modell, insbesondere bei Bergauffahrten, besonders viel Grip bietet (bis 40 Grad Steigung!). Die 3 Differenziale machen das Modell trotz seiner Länge agil und wendig. Die vordere Kabinenhaube des Volvo A60 ist aus Polycarbonat und bereits 2-farbig vorlackiert (Gelb und Gun-Metal).
