Dieses für Makroaufnahmen optimierte mittlere Teleobjektiv verwendet ein asphärisches Element sowie Glas mit extra-niedriger Dispersion und super-extra-niedriger Dispersion, um scharfe Bilder mit minimaler Aberration zu erzeugen. Außerdem verfügt es über eine Nano-AR-Beschichtung, die Reflexionen unterdrückt und eine effiziente Lichtdurchlässigkeit für klare Fotos ermöglicht. Die maximale Blendenöffnung von f/2.8 ist für Aufnahmen bei schwachem Licht effektiv und ermöglicht einen Fokus mit geringer Tiefenschärfe. Ein internes Fokussystem, bei dem sich beim Fokussieren nur die mittleren optischen Gruppen bewegen, sorgt für schnelle Autofokusaktion und einen kurzen Mindestfokusabstand von 28 cm (11 Zoll). Außerdem wird das Objektiv beim Fokussieren nicht ausgefahren und das vordere Ende dreht sich nicht. Der Direct Drive Super Sonic Wave-Autofokusmotor verwendet piezoelektrische Elemente, die mit Ultraschallfrequenzen oszillieren, um das Fokusobjektiv präzise und nahezu geräuschlos zu steuern. Der Fokusring wird hin- und hergeschoben, um den manuellen oder automatischen Fokus auszuwählen.
