Ein perfekter Einsteiger Der „Akashi Red“ entstammt der White Oak Destillerie in Eigashima, Akashi City auf der japanischen Insel Honshū in der Präfektur Hyōgo, nordwestlich von Osaka. Das Unternehmen produzierte ursprünglich lediglich Sake und Shochu, besaß allerdings bereits seit 1919 eine Lizenz für das Brennen von Alkohol. 1984 dann wurde in der Nähe eine zweite Produktionsstätte für Whisky errichtet, die auf den Namen White Oak Destillerie getauft wurde. Der „Eigashima White Oak Akashi Blended Whisky Red“, wie sein offizieller Name lautet, ist ein Blended Whisky, der in ehemaligen Bourbon-Fässern lagerte und ohne Altersangabe in Trinkstärke mit 40 Vol% Alkoholgehalt abgefüllt wurde. Kräftig Bernstein-golden in der Farbe, begegnet er der Nase fein, mit Honig, etwas Zitrus, Weintraube und Pfirsich-Noten darunter, untermalt von einer kräftigen Würzigkeit. Am Gaumen dann zeigt er sich weich und zugänglich, mit Vanille, auch hier erneut Zitrus-Früchten, ein wenig Süße und feinen Holz-Aromen, die diesen „Akashi Red“ in einen Honig-süßen, würzigen Abgang begleiten. Ein klassischer „Japaner“ Der „Akashi White Oak No Age“ entstammt der White Oak Destillerie in Eigashima, Akashi City auf der japanischen Insel Honshū in der Präfektur Hyōgo, nordwestlich von Osaka. Kräftig Bernstein-farben, begegnet er der Nase mit buttrigen Heißwecken, Erdnüssen in Schokolade, Zitronengras und einem Hauch würzigem Roggenbrot. Am Gaumen dann zeigt er sich sanft, dabei voll, nussig und brotig, mit Aromen frischen Mürbteigs mit Gelee und Marzipan, dazu süßes Getreide, Muskatnuss und schwarzer Pfeffer, der diesen „Akashi White Oak No Age Blended Whisky“ in einen süßen, von Haferkeks- und Trockenobst-Aromen durchzogenen Abgang entlässt.
